Red and Black Cafe – Portland, OR

We are open from 9am – 11pm, seven days a week, with a few exceptions (see below).  We stop serving hot food at 10:30pm, but can make snack food, salads, and cold sandwiches until close.

We close four times a year for an all-day collective meeting and cleaning day.  When this occurs, notices will be posted on the door and we will communicate it to our listserv a day or two in advance.

HOLIDAY HOURS

Thanksgiving: 10am – 7pm

Christmas Eve: 10am – 7pm

Christmas Day: 10am – 7pm

New Years’ Eve: 8am – 8pmish (we may close earlier or later than this depending on how busy it is)

New Years’ Day: 10am – 11pm

MAY DAY

We typically attend the march downtown, then open at 6pm to host a May Day party.

Please note that on very slow nights, it is up to the discretion of the worker to close early.  If this is the case, they will communicate that to all patrons in the cafe.  No matter what, we will generally not close before 10:30pm.

The Red and Black is located in Southeast Portland, in the beautiful Buckman neighborhood, which is home to many social justice groups.

We are located on the 70 bus line and within easy walking distance to the 19, 20, 12, and 6.
